Finding a deletion pen that works on baked CtP plates can be challenging! In the past, the only way to delete an image from a baked plate was to use a honing stick. Honing sticks, however, had several drawbacks. It could be difficult to maneuver, improper use could damage the plate surface, and it required a fair degree of skill to use.
Enter Burnishine’s KP4 deletion pen for baked Kodak CtP plates, and FBP3000 deletion pen for baked Fuji CtP plates. We worked with both manufacturers to develop pens that were easy to use, convenient, and effective.
KP4 deletion pen is recommended for:
- Electra XD
FBP3000 deletion pen is recommended for:
- Fuji LH-PSE
- Fuji LH-N13
Note: Unbaked Kodak and unbaked Fuji plates should use CTP1000.
Both KP4 deletion pens and FBP3000 deletion pens are made to same high standards as our CTP1000 deletion pen. Both pens feature 2 tips – one medium and one broad, the highest quality barrel construction, sealed end caps and durable tips that won’t break down from chemicals in the pen. The durable tip helps reduce evaporation which extends the life of the pen thereby saving you money.
KP4 deletion pensand FBP3000 deletion pens work quickly, are easy to use, and corrections can be made on press. As with CPT1000, it’s important to use gentle pressure when making deletions. You do not need to exert excessive pressure. In fact, applying too much pressure can damage the plate graining, which can result in toning on press. Excessive pressure can also damage the tip causing premature wear. We recommend following up deletions with plate cleaner, such as Burnishine Aqua Blue (PCN P7 – an acidic plate cleaner and desensitizer), or Plate Care (PCN 3600) before resuming production. Plate Care is a mildly acidic finisher, cleaner and plate preserver that is compatible with any metal plate – CtP or analog.
Don’t forget Burnishine makes other deletion pens. We have IBF5000 deletion pen for use with IBF CtP plates, and LPC6000 for polyester laser plates such as Hurst SmartPlate and DAA’s Genie laser plates.
